A moving person, coming at you from a higher vantage point is seen as a threat to our more primitive side. A still figure, with arms to their side and a longing gaze outwards presents no such threat. Some see it as a form of self-assuredness and security. You could also read it as rejection and permittance - perhaps an authorization to gaze back without feeling ashamed or with pleasure.
The Pose turns space and time into space by removing time and space itself into a 2d glossy magazine page. The photograph of the pose further reinforces the point of the pose. The makeup is thick and shiny on the model, accentuating the garment and removing the individual.
There's a point in the model's walk in a runway show, where the model gets to the end of the catwalk, stops, Poses and turns around. The moment the model makes this final turn to walk back to the beginning of the walk, the pose begins to dissolve and the individual begins to flesh themsleves out again into their own identity. The beginning of the runway, the curtains, the blackness of the runway itself needs no act. This subtleness is what I've attempted to capture below.
