The Seductive Banana

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Oil Painting #2

My teacher looked at this and thought I was painting a banana getting crucified. I just thought the junxtaposition between organic and man made objects with similar shapes would be interesting, but then I made the painting turn out so the banana looks like it's coming on to its viewer.

yummy.

But basically it's a banana on a bunch of metal shit. I'm too tired to be conceptual, come up with you're own conclusions.

cut this up, fine

You'll need Flash 5 and a very fast computer to view this piece

Try this trick and spin it, yeah

(July, 2000)

Mix one part religion with two parts political views,

Shake vigorously and set aside until desired size.

No need to bake! It shall cook itself thoroughly,

Like salmon in a lemon marinate

I'll miss you Dick Keane, of Wethersfield CT. Thank you from the bottom of my existance for all you have ever done for my Father.

I sat
Clutching my right knee
With my left hand
On top of a large Boulder
In a small park
On the Pearl Street Mall

I'm watching
All the people go by
As I waited
For a coworker
get ready
to get lunch with me

I'm viewing people going by
And wondering
W here they were going
What some of them were talking about
Why some weren't talking
What they bought
The clothes they were wearing
What they would be wearing the next time they passed me
And my Boulder

I can view a lot from this Boulder

Gazing wearily at a store
in front of me
and was able to
Focus in on the music inside
The B52's Love Shack

Baby.

Pondering over a cart to the right of the store
It had a small sign made of construction paper
That reads
Back in 10 minutes

Baby.

Wondering
Looking
The cart's main sign said

"Patty and Thor's Home on the Range"
(It was only a cart)
Wondering
Who Patty and Thor were
Was one really a Leprechaun
The other a Viking?
Did the illustrator of the sign
Only know how to illustrate
Northern European characters?

Wondering
What it would be like
To own my own cart
That only sold
Water
Soda
And snow cones in 10 different flavors

Like this one

Looking even farther
And gazing at the crowd
That was waiting for
The
Light to change

How some of them listened to the impromptu
Folk band playing
Near the corner

How some counted down with the walk sign
Until it tells you you can't walk

Anymore

Gazing a bit more in that direction
And
Then a little closer towards me

A new mother was breast-feeding her baby
On one of the benches
Near me
I looked away
as not to be rude

Wondering
What the stance was
On breast-feedign on mall benches

I know skateboarding isn't allowed

I swung my gaze
To the left
And
saw a young woman
Walk
By

She looked familiar
But I can't
Pull a name

I notice
Red Streaks in her hair
I notice
tattoos on her arms
I notice
her long, dress with light colors

It was the dress that confused me

I met her before
On this very street

She's walking
Looking
Straight ahead
I tensed up
And
Waited
For her to spot
Me
To speak to
Me
On top of the Boulder
My Boulder

I'm high

But easy to spot

She's walking by me
10 feet away it must be!

Wondering
When I would speak to her
she's walking passed me
Looking
directly ahead
And I lost her
Still sitting on that Boulder

There must be
Three other girls
Whom I have acquaintance
On this mall

All work
No more than a block away
From me

Only this woman
Am I
Too frightened
To speak to

Only this woman
Could knock me off
My Boulder
And make me chase
Her around the mall in madness

I only stayed on my Boulder
For a little while longer

I didn't want to see anymore
Today
