I was juggling the other day, this women in a wheelcheer came up to me to chat. I mean, this women
was in a serious condition, I didn't know it at first, but she had been through alot, it looked like
an earthquake or something. She asked how I learned how to juggle, things like that. I told her
we used to have a apple tree in the backyard. The apples were pretty small and tart, and there
was always an abundance of them, so my brother would juggle them. Naturally, I wanted to be just like
the big brother, so i started juggling them. Then my friend actually finished highschool early to join the
Circus, and gave me her
juggling clubs. She told me she really didn't have very good hand eye coordination because shelost the left one.
It was a weird conversation, but somehow really laid back. This women wasn't sorry or embarressed at herself,
she was more interested in me, how (like juggling skills) you can take something simple to start of with, and build up your
knowledge on the subject little by little, until you have something that looks impossible to learn. I guess i made her
a little more happy, just juggling on a break from work, I don't really juggle with anyone else or hang out with all the "cool" jugglers
so i have no idea what tricks are called, or what tricks there are, juggling is this weird activity that has no real meaning,
but is fun to do and is a challenge. Alot about controlling your own body, yourself, making something on the verge of chaos look ho hum
simple.
I had to stop juggling because my right index finger was killing me. It's about 1 1/2 times the size of my left index finger,
it still hasn't gone done totally, i'm starting to get worried, doesn't help with the drawing class i'm taking soon,If my index finger
is broken, it'll be the fourth bone i've broke, fourth in my right hand and the first major injury from skateboarding I've ever had.
My thumb is the only thing left that isn't tweaked in some way.
Street performeres are everywhere on Pearl Street. There was this one guy playing the guitar. He didn't really didn't sing,
heyelled. He yelled fruit names. "Mango, Mango! Don't you wish your were a Mango! Yeah" Until someone yelled back "strawberry" and he would echo
back "SSSSSTTTRAAAWWWBBBBEEERRRRRRRRRRYYY!" and so on.
I saw a documentary on The Sex Pistols Today. I keep losing and gaining acceptance and respect in them. At the end of the film, spanning their two year stint,
it just seemed everyone thought everyone else was a liar, cheater and cunt to the other person, which they probably were. But it got me thinking on how counter cultures clash and reject the pop culture and socirty around them, until the counter culture is finally inhaled by the very thing it rebelled against, shrink wrapped, sold at the mall and found at the bargain basement at must go prices the next year.
UK of the 70's punks seem to have taken the filth they lived in and turned into it, reflecteing on what life was and trying to act as an individual in an otherwise blind society to the troubles around. UK Ska Music started as a way to release stress after working at a faceless factory at a horrible rate (it was either that, or no work) for 10 hours.
Hippies seem to have decided they didn't like what was going around, so escaped into their own little altered state of living, protesting (mostly) peacely, and just spreading what they call Loooove.
Beat Generation Poets writers and musicians of the 40's and 50's decided to write out spontaneously on what they were thinking and what the world was like, not really changing it, but exploring what makes it tick.
Jazz, Bop and Swing of the 30's 40's and 50's decided to take something that was structured and level and make it fresh and loose.
The dance style was close, physical, fast. it had the life and soul of the music
Maybe I'm just thinking about these things because I take part in a bit of all of them. Maybe its just cause I see them around alot, in both forms, the real original form and the Poor Little Rich Girl's answer to hating her parents (boulder is turning into Yuppie heaven ever since they closed down every free camping ground in a 20 mile radius, thus kicking out the artisians, the people living simple, the real Boulderites.) Wondering if something big is going to go down soon. Boy bands have to be seeing the sun set on their carefully instructed career, rock SUCKS, the economy has been stable and profitable for a really long time, seems almost too perfect eh?
I have to stop drinking so much coffee and sleep more. Remember to get Dancia some truffles and maybe a flower before she comes back from hanging out with her German friends. Fill out my request for In State tuition. Fix that hole in my jeans. Clean the house. Learn how to paint. Makes some beans and rice...
